We had a great turnout on Saturday with a total of 11 members for the February edition of our SoCalASL Game day in Chatsworth.
Mike Soffa’s Russians fell to Dave Nicholas’ Germans in the Deluxe scenario “Breakoutâ€.
Dave Rosner and Ed Esparza paired up for two scenarios. In the first game, Ed’s Germans defeated Dave’s Americans in “Strayer’s Straysâ€. In the second, Ed’s Russians defeated Dave’s Germans in “Urban Guerillasâ€.
Eric Visnowski’s Germans defeated Jaime Pelaez’ Poles in “Bloody Harvestâ€.
‘Tex’ Reinking and Dan Plachta both arrived later in the day, and paired up for the small Deluxe scenario “Last Message Homeâ€. Dan’s Japanese fell to Tex’s Italians (yes.. I said Italians. That’s not a typo.)
Matt Cicero worked on a couple of the future Melee Pack IV scenarios throughout the day, and later enlisted Dan and EV to take a crack at “Cold Cauldronâ€, with Dan’s Germans defeating Eric’s Russians.
And Sal Pelaez and I paired up for a playtest of “Clearing the Heights†from the upcoming Dinant HASL, with Sal taking the French against my Germans. Sal wanted to learn OBA, so this was a good pick. Unfortunately we only got to placing an SR before the radio operator was killed and his position overrun. But we had a lot of fun, and the scenario came down to the final fire phase before it was obvious the French weren’t going to be able to hold on.
Most of the games cleared fairly early, and the survivors retired to Marie Calendar’s for our traditional late dinner.
All in all it was a great day for everyone, with a lot scenarios getting played and some playtest progress made.
