We had 6 members in attendance for the February edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology:
Dave Nicholas paired up with Justin Jaramillo in “Garski's Fusilade”, with Justin's Germans defeating Nick's Belgians. And because that scenario got over very quickly they moved onto another small one: “Quiet Desperation”. In the first playing Nick's Germans defeated Justin's Brits. They changed sides, and Nick won as the Brits over Justin's Germans.
Scott Thompson's Russians defeated Jon Jaramillo's Germans in the Rally Point scenario “Something Borrowed.”
That left me and Eric Visnowski to pair up for “Toothless Tiger”. This is an interesting scenario set in winter, 1943. A German company supported by 4 Pz III's have to attack a small cluster of buildings and woods infested with Russians. Their mission is to destroy an abandoned Tiger immobilized behind Russian lines. Russian relief is in the form of 5 T-60 tanks. The Germans have to destroy the Tiger (they get three vehicle crews with DC's to help) and clear the area of Russians. I decided on a fast, 'bypass freeze' attack to crush Eric's forward elements before his tanks arrived. Lucky for me, his AT Gun was covering the other side of the board (though it would still cause problems for my attack right to the end.) The scenario turned into one of those epic, down to the last CC games that Eric and I have had some many times. In the end, my Germans accomplished their mission and won the scenario, but just barely. We both had a blast playing this one and would happily try it again as either side.
We adjourned for our usual lunch at The Hat, and because we were wrapped up fairly early, the survivors gathered at Chili's for a late dinner. It was another great Game Day for SoCalASL!
