Anyway yes Drew did win the battle by capturing one of the 75mm squeeze bores. However I must state in my defense not before I took out his three heavy tanks (KV's) in one swack! That was invigorating to say the least. Drew however did calm down and took the gun the old fashion way…with infantry. Darn good player and a gent to boot. Look forward to another match with him.
Some time in September I will be doing some reconstruction of my ASL gear. (The whole shebang went up in smoke in a house fire! Horrors!) At the moment I am toying with the idea of making 1 inch hex scale copies of ASL boards, for use with 3D levels, buildings and trees etc. (I am an old display maker that built stuff for museums) But I need paper copies of ASL Boards to use as a guide. The main goal is to use these fancy boards with 285th scale minatures. This takes the game to a whole new level. A real eye catcher at conventions.
July 28, 2008 at 10:20 pm #5160Matt “Rolling Hot” CiceroKeymasterI have a 3-D model of Gavutu-Tanambogo in my office. This sort of board does work well with minis but I would have to say that all LOS checks should be made on a “regulation” board in order to preserve accuracy in play.
As you rebuild your set, let me know if you need anything…the CLub has a few items in stock and can get more pretty easily.

Next stop will be Staples for some color copies. Michaels has foam board on sale 20″X”30 2 sheets for 3.00 bucks. Main Idea is to make 3D boards using counters for now. Minatures are fun, but will need to work out the bugs first. 285th scale is cool using free form tables, using tape measures at 1 inch to the hex.
Anyway I will see you folks on Saturday in Claremont.
