We had seven members for the June edition of our Game Day at Gameology.
Mike Soffa and Dave Nicholas paired up for a rematch of “Happy Valleyâ€, with Mike taking the Germans and Dave the Americans. In an all day battle, Dave’s Americans held on for victory.
Bill Yuen and Eric Visnowski squared off against Rob Stai in the big ass Out of the Attic scenario “Shattering the Lineâ€, with Rob’s Germans defeating Bill and Eric's Russians.
Jim Cotugno wanted to do a night scenario, and that’s something I’m always up for. We chose the Dispatches’ VotG scenario “Urban Nightmareâ€. I set up the Germans and Jim took the attacking Russians. This is a pretty small scenario, and we intended to play it twice. Our first playing was a blast, and by the last turn Jim was down to a single 6-2-8 against my two 4-4-7’s. But Jim’s last Russian squad refused to break and he took a last-die-roll victory. At that point I took the Russians and Jim the Germans. But I f*cked up the attack and we decided to reboot after turn 3. In the reboot though, we realized we’d been playing without the German wire. It also became apparent that the Germans could set up in a way so as to make it almost impossible for the Russians to win. It didn’t take away from the great fun we had though. Jim and I are partners in The Red Barricades Project, and it was fun to get a game in with him.
We did you usual pilgrimage to The Hat for lunch, which never gets old. It was another great day!
