We had a nice solid 8 Club members plus cameo appearances from Matt Cicero and Stephan Tourville for our June 4th SoCalASL Game Day at Gameology.

Glenn Sellar’s Germans defeated Ed Esparza’s Greeks in the early war scenario “Revenge at Kastelli”. And because their game got over fairly early, they rematched for the all-armor classic “Traverse Right, Fire”, where Glenn’s Russians proved victorious over Ed’s Germans.

Scott Thompson and Eric Visnowski paired up for the Deluxe scenario “Charging Chaumont”, with Scott’s Germans falling to EV’s Americans.

Dave Nicholas took on Blair Bellamy in another early war classic “Round One”, with Dave’s Germans defeating Blair’s Poles in an all day struggle.

And Mike Soffa and I paired up for “Cherry Ripe”; an interesting tactical situation of a large, good quality force of Brits trying to dig out a small, good quality German force ensconced in a nearly impregnable citadel. In the end, Mike’s Brits went over the casualty cap when I sent a German Pz III and a gun crew to shoot up two squads and a 9-1 leader trying to climb a cliff. It’s an interesting scenario, but seems to be one of those scenarios that hard to get your head around (especially as the attacker) until you’ve played it once. Bravo to Mike for a good game.

We adjourned during the day for our usual pilgrimage to The Hat for lunch. We dined outside for the day, taking advantage of the perfect afternoon weather.
