    Citizens,

I have been chipping away at laminating the paper maps I purchased long ago.

So far, so good; maps 1-25 in 3mil.

Getting ready to trim those babies.
Question is, “How close to the paper map do I trim?”

Total random esoterica mapboard trivia question…

“Do you notice anything unique about A.S.L. board #24?”

Disclaimer: the answer is pretty lame. :-)

    Peace,

    Casta

    Casta,

You don't need much of a border on the lamination; only enough to guarantee that the pocket remains sealed. I recommend 1/8th of an inch. In my experience, with anything more than that the edges tend to get beat up over time.

I don't know what you're using to trim them, but I have had excellent luck with the large sliding paper-cutters at Kinkos (available for free use). They can handle 3 mil and give you a nice straight cut very quickly. Two warning though, if you've not used them before: 1) don't rely on the plastic guides, they are usually warped, line the sheet up on the metal cutting edge. 2) The cutter appears to be multi-directional but it isn't, it will only cut cleanly in one direction. I recommend a couple of passes with some test paper to get a handle on where the blade actually hits and which direction works best.

    Good luck.

It is the only map with level -2.

    Jim,

Thanks for the info. My local Kinko's is run by “Team Apathy”, but I'll covertly ingress and run a couple test cuts.

    Fred,

    Congratulations!

I owe you a drink. Your answer is not only correct, but as we will see later, infinitely superior to my answer.

    Peace,

Hmm, “Team Apathy”, probably beats “Team Disaffected” that runs the Kinkos near me. :) Apathy is good… they don't notice and/or care when you use their free stuff. And unlike “Team Disaffecte”, they don't have anger management issues.

On boards 1-25, it is the only one with its number designation in hex C9.

    Peace,
