    Greetings ASL Fans;

    We had five members in attendance for the March edition of our ASL Game Day at JJ’s Game Lounge in Chatsworth.

    Dan Plachta and Dave Nicholas paired up for “Becker’s Battery” with Dan’s Germans defeating Dave’s Brits. And because the wrapped that scenario up pretty quickly, they set up “Play Havoc”. This time Dave got his revenge when his Marines defeated Dan’s Japanese.

    That left me, Eric Visnowski and Kevin Kiff to take on a playtest of “Whom the Gods Destroy”, with Kevin as the EDES (Greek Nationalists) Eric as the SS and me as the ELAS (Greek Communist partisans.) The revised scenario takes away some of the EDES long-range firepower, and reduces the VC area to force a more close-in fight for the village. In our game Eric’s SS seized the village early, but then got caught between the partisans and nationalists. Unfortunately we ran out of time with a half turn to go, but it was clear it was going to be razor close finish between the partisans and nationalists. The revisions really help balance the scenario, and we all had a great time.

    We made our usual trip next door to San Carlo Deli for our usual excellent lunch, and the survivors made their way to Marie Calendar’s for a late dinner. Overall it was another great day of ASL!
