We had a terrific Game Day at Emerald Knights in Burbank yesterday, with seven guys playing a total of five games, plus a cameo appearance from Matt Cicero.
Blair Bellamy’s Germans defeated Ken Tee’s British in the Rally Point scenario “Butchers and Bakersâ€. They then recombined for “Kettle and Coxâ€; another Rally Point scenario. In that playing, Ken’s Germans fell to Blair’s Americans.
At the next table, Kevin Kiff’s Germans defeated Ed Esparza’s Brit’s in “The Stand†from the CH module Third Bridge. Kevin and Ed took on a second scenario, “Revenge of the Greys†from Journal 8. Kevin’s Germans squeaked past with a win against Ed’s Brits in a down-to-the-last-CC-phase game.
And while all that was going on, Eric Visnowski, Dave Nicholas and I teamed up for “Mountain Men†from Journal 9. The dice gave Dave the Russians against me and EV as the Romanians. I really wanted to try this scenario again after having my head handed to me by Stephan in a previous playing. This time the Romanians prevailed in what turned out to be a very enjoyable and quick playing scenario.
As is their usual habit, the group adjourned for a chili dog lunch at Larry’s, a take-out place nearby. After the last game wrapped up around 9:00 PM, the survivors trekked over to Bob’s Big Boy for a late dinner.
In all it was another great day of ASL with a great bunch of guys. I’m glad I was able to join in. Also, a warm welcome goes to Kevin’s friend Ken Tee, who joined us for the first time.
