    Greetings ASL Fans;

    We had a nice solid 6 members in attendance for our March ASL Game Day at Gameology:

    Dan Plachta’s Free French troops defeated Jim Cotugno’s Germans in the Out of the Bunker scenario “Block at Ville-Sur-Illon”.

    Ed Esparza’s American’s pulled out a last minute win against Blair Bellamy’s Germans in the Winter Offensive Pack scenario “Counterattack at Carentan”.

    And Stephan Tourville and I paired up for the new Journal 9 scenario “Mountain Hunters”. The dice gave Stephan the Russians and I took the Romanians, in a very cool scenario. (I’m always up for Axis Minors.) The Romanian force is elite, and they have plenty of toys and two Stug’s. But I made the mistake of spreading my attack too thin, and attacking straight into the strongest part of Stephan’s position. It was clear after a couple of turns that the Romanians were too chewed up to make much headway, and I conceded a win to Stephan while we still had enough time to try something else.

    Our second scenario proved to be another good choice from Journal 9: “No Mercy in Burcy”. I commented to Stephan before we started that this scenario would be a real knife fight, and in fact that’s exactly how it turned out. I took the attacking Germans, and Stephan had the Brits. My forces were poised for a turn 5 sudden death exit victory, only to be spoiled by a British hero popping out of a building and killing a loaded German half-track that had been stunned by fire. So my Germans turned around and threw themselves back into the town to grab another victory building, and nearly pulled it off. In the end, the Germans had one good order squad and one leader, and the Brits were down to two good order squads, but had held on for the win. Every vehicle was dead (most of them burning.) It was exciting down to the last turn. As Stephan said, “It was one of those scenarios where you have to remind yourself to breath.” Indeed it was, and you just can’t ask for more.

    We made our usual pilgrimage to The Hat for lunch. We enjoyed the beautiful weather eating outside. It was another great day.
