We had 8 members for the November edition of our ASL Game Day at Emerald Knights.
Dave Nicholas and Bill Yuen paired up for the early war scenario “Retreat From Hannutâ€, with Dave’s Germans defeating Bill’s French.
Ed Esparza’s Japanese defeated Mike Cirrincione’s Marines in “Ninth Tanksâ€.
Eric Visnowski’s Americans fell to Dave Rosner’s Germans in “2nd Crack at Caumontâ€.
And Blair Bellamy and I paired up for the Rally Point Spanish Civil War scenario “An Italian Civil Warâ€. My Republican attack ran out of gas and fell to Blair Nationalist force.
Because we wrapped up pretty quickly, Blair and I set up another Rally Point scenario; “Arrivederci Nemboâ€. At first the set up instructions looked like a misprint. The Italians need to exit 8 VP, but the Canadian set up allows the Italians to get a full movement phase head start on the race the opposite board edge. It turned out to be quite close. Blair was able to exit 2 squads and an 8-1 leader on turn 3, but I was able to pin the third squad that would have given him the win. Eventually, my Canadians were able to kill off that squad and get between the board edge and his remaining force. Blair just couldn’t get his Italians to punch through, though it was a nail-biter right to the end. It was great to get in a couple of scenarios with Blair, who is always a such a pleasure to play.
For lunch we made our usual trip to Larry’s for hot dogs (or in two cases, salads.) We wrapped up around 8:00 PM and most of us headed over to Bob’s Big Boy for our usual late dinner. It was another terrific day of ASL!
