We had another excellent turn-out this week; 10 members in attendance for our SoCalASL Game Day at All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth:
James Quinn's Germans fell to Mike Soffa's Americans in my all time favorite scenario “Rocket's Red Glare”.
Dan Plachta's Russians defeated Blair Bellamy's Axis troops in “Second City”.
Ed Esparza's Germans defeated Jimmy Hansen's Americans in “Simple Solution”.
Dave Nicholas' Americans fell to Eric Visnowski's Germans in “Seize That Crossroads”.
And Phil Seymour took the Russians against my Hungarians in “Extracurricular Activity”. This scenario is scheduled to be re-published in the upcoming re-print of “Armies of Oblivion” . At ASLOK, Perry gave me a list of scenarios that MMP wanted to revise due to their tippy ROAR rating. I happen to like this one, and last month played it as the Russians against Dave Lewis, with the proposed changes (add a squad and LMG to the Hungarian force). This month, Phil wanted to try it, and I agreed and took the Hungarians. Unfortunately, this first playing didn't last long. Its a tough attack, and I fucked it up completely. By turn 3 my Hungarians were stopped cold. We decided to flip it around and I took the Russians. This second playing was much more even, and Phil played his usual excellent game, but he needed some mighty fine dice rolling to stay in it. Though it was fairly close, at the end of the game I had 5 squads in the building to Phil's 4, we both concluded that the Hungarians need more help.
We enjoyed an excellent lunch in the sun on the patio in front of San Carlo Deli, and the survivors retired to The Habit for our traditional late dinner. It was another awesome game day!
