We had four members in attendance for the October edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology.
We decided on a four-player game of “Old Friends” from the most recent Journal. Eric Visnowski and I teamed up with the Germans against Scott Thompson and Dave Nicholas as the Americans. Eric and I chose and up-front set-up, guarding the American left side (closest to the VC buildings) very heavily, and putting 3 half squads in the building closest to the stream. Our set-up paid off, and we caught the oncoming Americans in cross-fire that even the awesome American firepower couldn't blast its way through. Nick made a gallant attempt to flank our position to the American right flank, and got two TD's on our StuG in the woods. But in our Prep Fire we were able to pivot the StuG in the woods, pass the bog check, and make rate. That let the StuG kill both TD's with a rate shot and then an IF shot.
It was pretty much over at that point, and we called it a German win. Early indications on ROAR show this a bit pro-German, and we all thought the Americans could use a little help. Its fun to play though and worth the effort.
We had our usual lunch at The Hat, and the survivors retired for coffee at Starbucks after. It was a nice day all around.
