We had 6 members in attendance for the October edition of our ASL Game Day at Gameology.

Dan Plachta’s Germans defeated Chip Wertenberger’s Russians in the early war Russian front scenario “The Meat Grinder”.

Dave Nicholas and John Lehman paired up for one of my favorite short scenarios, “The Hornet of Cloville.” In their first playing John’s Germans defeated Dave’s Americans. They turned it around and tried it again. This time Dave’s Germans defeated John’s Americans.

And Eric Visnowski and I paired up for the Schwerepunkt scenario “Le Diable Noir”. This scenario pits a French volunteer S.S. unit (commanded by yours truly) supported by 4 StuG IIIG’s against a Russian Guards onslaught featuring T34-85’s and ISU-122’s during the Battle for Berlin. In a slug-fest that lasted to well past closing (the manager let us keep playing) my S.S. survived a last turn 1-1 CC to pull out win. It was one of the closest games Eric and I have played together, and definitely one of our most enjoyable. If you like late war, big city, heavy metal fights, this is the scenario for you.

We broke for our traditional lunch at The Hat in the early afternoon, and cleared out at 10:30 PM.
