I don't know if anyone happened to catch this news item :Glacier Girl, a P 38 recovered in 1992 from under 300 feet of ice in Greenland, where along with 5 other P 38s and 2 B 17s where it had been since 1942.The Lightning was restored over a few years to flying condition. Its owner passed away and a company in Murietta Calif, Provenance Fighter Sales, purchased the plane from the owners widow for resale. They sold the plane to a Texan for close to 7 million dollars.
This is a benchmark price, these planes[the few that exist]
have been in the 2 million dollar range for a while, this will probably result in massive values on these museum pieces in the very near future. So,if you were thinking of purchasing that Mustang or Corsair, ya better hurry up!
