Our goal for this meeting of The Red Barricades Project was to complete the 10/29 CG, record everything to date, and put the CG on hiatus. We're not quitting, but after four years (since July, 2010) the Russians are getting a little burned out, and we felt it was time to move onto other things.

Dan Plachta had the Germans against myself and Jim Cotugno as the Russians. We resumed the action at the top of turn 7. Dan continued to attrition as many Russian units as possible, though the pace of the carnage was slowed somewhat by the heavy rain and heavy wind. The Russians counterattacked back into some positions where the Germans were somewhat over-extended, but overall casualties were fairly light on both sides. At final count the Russians had lost 54 squads to the German's 17. But the Russians lost only 3 leaders (9-0, 7-0 & 6+1) to the Germans 9 (9-2 x2, 9-1 x2, 8-1 x3, 7-0 & 6+1) and degraded several 5-4-8's down to 4-4-7's (as well as killing 2 1/2 8-3-8 squads) The Germans also took losses in AFV's, Guns and crews. In all, another tough date for the Russians, but they're still alive and several -1 Historical Mod's are coming up. There's still a lot of fighting to be had, but it's just going to have to wait until we've recovered somewhat.

Needless to say, starting next month we will be playing something other than Red Barricades, and we spent a fair amount of time deciding what that would be and how we would proceed. I am going to save that announcement for a separate post, however.

The St. Crispin's hall was almost empty all day; there was a big event going on up in Van Nuys that drew away most of the crowd. Because no one was preparing lunch, we retired to the near pizza shop for pasta and sandwiches. We wrapped up late (about 7:30) but we got everything done we had planned to, and as always it was fun.

Stay tuned for the announcement about what's coming up next for the St. Crispin's Game Day.
