I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on a few of the historical ASL modules which all have heavy paper maps. Some of the maps are worn and I'm afraid of using them for fear of eventually wearing them to the point they become ruined. Are there any recommendations on how these types of game maps can be preserved? I was thinking of cutting them into squares by fold seams and having them lamenated – I believe Kinko's can do this(?). Is this a good idea? Or are there better ways at preservation that also ensures they are still easily used for play? How about mounting? Is this easily done?
I laminated all of my paper maps and have no complaints. I went to Office Depot. I didn't cut them up, but that is certainly an option. Or you could copy them first. If you laminate, I don't really think you would need to mount them.
I let the professional staff at Office Depot handle the details. The guy at the store in my area actually is familiar with wargaming, so he has a clue as to the requirements.
