September has proven an excellent month for Game Day attendance. We had another 10 members for the September edition of our ASL Game Day at All Ways Gaming in Chatsworth:
Jimmy Hansen's Russians fell to Dave Nicholas' Germans in “Shielding Moscow”.
James Quinn and Sal Palaez paired up for “Clearing Colleville”, with James' Americans defeating Sal's Germans.
And because James and Nick were still ready to mix it up after their games cleared, they set up “Simple Equation”, with Nick's Germans defeating James' Americans.
Dan Plachta's Brits defeated Ed Esparza's Germans in “Among the Dead”.
Dave Rosner's Americans defeated Dave Lewis' Germans in “Its Hardly Fair”.
And Eric Visnowski and I paired up for the FrF scenario “Pain in the Neck”. Eric took the attacking SS against my defending Russian Guards. The Russians get a small blocking force to slow down the SS, who must exit 6 squad equivalents to win. The Russians get a pretty nice pursuit force with T34-85's and Guards infantry. Eric was able to break and side-step my blocking force, and though I cobbled together a last-minute defense of the board edge, my Russians couldn't be everywhere and the Germans slipped through the noose for the win.
On our post-game reflection, I realized I had focused to much on winning the armor battle and should have sent my armor ahead to block the German infantry's exits. Eric played a great game, and well deserved the win.
We made our usual trek to San Carlo Deli for lunch; where it was uncharacteristically quiet. We were literally the only customers in the store (its usually mobbed.) The survivors made their way to The Habit for dinner, where we were joined by Blair Bellamy. All in all it was an awesome day with another great turn-out!
