    Hi All,

Back in December I downloaded all of the VASL maps in .png format (as oppossed to the VASL format) from a web site. My intention is to print out the maps on card stock like Geoff did so that I'd at least have a copy of all the map boards on hand. I wanted to go back to the site to download the new AP 5 boards now that they are available, but I can't find the site now. Is this familiar to anyone? If so, could you please post the link?

    Thanks much,

    Todd

Unless you got them from a different site.

I looked at the VASL web site and couldn't find what I was looking for. This was a site where the maps had already been converted into .png or possibly .jpg format and could be downloaded. There was no need to even have VASL to do it. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

    Hi Todd,

I had all the maps as GIFs from VASL – that's what I used to print the missing boards I needed.

Still pining for the Map Pack so I can buy them all.

If you have VASL, then you already have all the boards in .gif format, you probably just didn't know it.

Look in the 'Boards' directory in the 'VASL' directory. There are a bunch of files called e.g. “bd01”, “bd12”, etc. These are actually “bd01.zip” and “bd12.zip” files that have been renamed to remove the .zip extension. If you change the name back to the .zip version, then you can open the files with Winzip and the bd01.gif is contained within.

Don't forget to copy the “bdxx” files to a different directory before you change all the filenames to “bdxx.zip”, because VASL doesn't recognize zip files.

OK, so I figured out what I did. I thought I had converted the maps after I had uninstalled VASL from my computer due to a problem. It turns out I must have done it before because when you bring up the maps in VASL there is an option to save them as .PNG files. That has to be what i did. Now that I've reinstalled VASL and the new version of th maps with the improved colors I've redone them and they look pretty good. Next I'll be working on printing some of them.

Thanks for the help. I have a couple other questions that I'll post in another thread soon.
